The Consent of Night

The particles of darkness
gathered around our bodies,
arranging themselves to contain us
in some ancient symmetry.
It all happened very naturally.

We were drawn to blend
the colors & textures of our skin
into a more perfect design.
That, too, happened very naturally;
the darkness did not mind.
